DIVORCE COACHING & CONSULTATION
Going through a divorce can be intimidating, and overwhelming, particularly if you are trying to navigate that process without the assistance of an attorney. Unfortunately, the costs of having an attorney are simply out of reach for many people. Through the process of divorce coaching, we provide individuals with assistance with their divorce matter. We can walk you through the substantive and procedural steps to a divorce case to help you reach a satisfactory conclusion. Having access to personal one-on-one assistance can remove much of the stress associated with this type of litigation. Through divorce coaching, parties are also able to avoid a significant amount of cost. The unfortunate reality is that with hourly billing for family law cases, there can be an enormous amount of wasted time. Clients often are billed by the hour even if their attorney is simply sitting in a hallway waiting for the case to be called.
We began offering this service to existing litigation clients who decided that they could not continue to incur attorney’s fees for their case, but who still wanted to have us available to provide feedback and assistance. This became more common as a result of the Covid crisis and judicial shortages which caused an enormous backlog in the New Jersey Superior Court. Some divorce cases dragged on for years with the court unable to provide a trial date. This situation created a financial toll for many litigants. By switching from full representation to a consultation based retainer, where the attorney was no longer serving as counsel of record in the court case, litigants were able to preserve their access to legal counsel, but avoid much of the costs.
Having assisted many of our litigation clients with consultation services, we decided to offer this service to anyone going through a divorce in New Jersey. We help clients understand the divorce process form start to finish, and help guide them towards strategize that minimize costs, and maximize the likelihood of a fair and reasonable outcome.
